My “baby” J1 just entered kindergarten and with that comes a lot of changes. His “little boy” loves of firetrucks and construction toys are long gone and now he loves big boy obsessions like Angry Birds and super heros. With Halloween fast approaching I wanted to pick up a costume for my grade schooler and needed it to be special.
You see, my son never, ever liked Halloween costumes…even as a baby. Each year I would try something new: a banana, a pumpkin, a dragon, tiger, a doctor, a firefighter and each year he would wear it for a few moments then off it went. As a backup I would buy a spooky shirt just so when we went trick or treating I didn’t look like a lazy mom!
This year, since we have discovered an intense love for super heroes (I think he must have gotten this from his dad who actually worked as a comic book artist for Marvel and DC), I went online to Wholesale Costume Club and had J1 pick out his own costume. I was hoping if he picked it out on his own, he would more likely wear it on the big day. He picked out this Batman Costume and was extremely excited for it’s arrival.
When the the costume arrived several days later, I cannot even describe the joy on my son’s face. He didn’t even say anything…he just gasped and smiled. He could not get it on fast enough and as soon as it was completely on he ran to go show daddy ::sigh:: It was a bit on the large size because my son is quite tall for his age and sort of fell between sizes. I figured he would be wearing this on a regular basis long after Halloween so that was ok. The quality was very nice and I loved the details of the mask, cape, “muscle chest” and belt. J1 is not big on having things on his head and face but he didn’t seem to mind. Overall, I was extremely happy with the costume and more importantly, J1 cannot wait to be the caped crusader in a few short weeks!
