My “baby” J1 just entered kindergarten and with that comes a lot of changes. His “little boy” loves of firetrucks and construction toys are long gone and now he loves big boy obsessions like Angry Birds and super heros. With Halloween fast approaching I wanted to pick up a costume for my grade schooler and needed it to be special.
You see, my son never, ever liked Halloween costumes…even as a baby. Each year I would try something new: a banana, a pumpkin, a dragon, tiger, a doctor, a firefighter and each year he would wear it for a few moments then off it went. As a backup I would buy a spooky shirt just so when we went trick or treating I didn’t look like a lazy mom!
This year, since we have discovered an intense love for super heroes (I think he must have gotten this from his dad who actually worked as a comic book artist for Marvel and DC), I went online to Wholesale Costume Club and had J1 pick out his own costume. I was hoping if he picked it out on his own, he would more likely wear it on the big day. He picked out this Batman Costume and was extremely excited for it’s arrival.
When the the costume arrived several days later, I cannot even describe the joy on my son’s face. He didn’t even say anything…he just gasped and smiled. He could not get it on fast enough and as soon as it was completely on he ran to go show daddy ::sigh:: It was a bit on the large size because my son is quite tall for his age and sort of fell between sizes. I figured he would be wearing this on a regular basis long after Halloween so that was ok. The quality was very nice and I loved the details of the mask, cape, “muscle chest” and belt. J1 is not big on having things on his head and face but he didn’t seem to mind. Overall, I was extremely happy with the costume and more importantly, J1 cannot wait to be the caped crusader in a few short weeks!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
My “baby” just turned five and we are gearing up for kindergarten! I am in the midst of picking up the last of the long list of supplies I have to send in with him on the first day and I am almost done…for now. The biggest item on that list is the backpack. He picked out Spiderman (of course) but since I saw three other boys pick out the same exact backpack it got me thinking that maybe I should make his backpack stand out just a bit.
Gutzy Gear is a cool new product that lets kids take a run of the mill item like a backpack and customize to fit their own interests without sewing or permanently damaging the bag! The process could not be more simple: remove the backpack strap covers from the box, wrap it around any bag strap and add your favorite Gutzy! There currently are 56 Gutzies in the series and new Gutzies are constantly being introduced so there is something for everyone! The straps and patches all attach with velcro so your child can change their patches as often as they change their mind. Read the rest of this entry »
I am a super busy mom with two young boys, a small business and a blog (not to mention a house to run) Sleep is a very precious commodity in my home so when I actually make it to my bed I need to be comfortable immediately without wasting time getting my pillows “just right.”
I am a complete pillow snob and have pretty much had almost every type of pillow out there. My mom likes to buy me the latest innovation in pillows every year so I literally have quite a selection to choose from! When I was given the opportunity to try out a new type of pillow from DACRON® I was excited to see what this pillow was all about.
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away lived a girl who loved bath and body products. She had something for every part of her body: scrubs, lotions, sprays, meshy ball thingys and even funny looking lava rocks. Her bathroom was covered in products that made her look and smell pretty. Sometimes she would spend an entire evening just performing her pampering rituals. It took hours but she was worth it!
Then one day a stork came and dropped off a baby. A very loud, baby who needed her attention every second of the day. So much so that she was lucky to take a daily shower at 12am just to ensure she was able to bathe. This was a far cry from days past but it was her new reality and she was happy to be a mommy but was sad to let her pampering go. All kidding aside this story is sad but true. I did have a pampering routine that I cherished and it was replaced by two kids and 12am showers. Now that my kids are older and thankfully are wonderful sleepers, I am slowly getting back to a modified me routine. I think it is so important for moms to take some time for themselves once in awhile. We spend our entire day taking care of our family, our pets, our homes, our business and everything else leaving little or no time for ourselves. Read the rest of this entry »
