In a previous post I told you how I was participating in the Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service Project, Spin Into Action. I was asked to help by gathering my family, friends and co-workers to provide toothbrushes, toothpaste and other oral care items for the children in my community. I began my mission at Walmart and purchased some Spinbrushes to start off my collection of dental care items (you can check out my shopping trip and see how I made out.) After shopping I raided my stockpile of oral care items to add to the donation.
After a not-so-great response from my facebook post asking for items, I decided to make some cold calls to some local dentists. After a few no I finally got a YES! Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics was kind enough to make a donation of toothbrushes. Here you can see my little guy J2 happy to accept this generous donation.
Once we got home we gathered all of our dental care items and made arrangements with Lighthouse Mission, a local charity that feeds over 3,000 people a week. They are in need of many items and oral care products were a huge part of this need so thought they would be a great fit. Even after my part with this mission is finished, I hope to have an ongoing relationship with this charity, using my coupon knowledge and resources to help those that depend on this charity.
It was so satisfying to participate in this project. So much so I will continue collection oral care items in the next few weeks. It feels great to give and I would love you all to get involved in anyway you can. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference.
